“Rhum Interdit” or “Ron Prohibido” is made in Mexico from sugar cane molasses. In the 17th century, sugarcane rum was originally only distilled on the Caribbean islands and exported to Spain. After production also began in Mexico, sugarcane liquor, also called Chinguirito, was poured into the empty barrels of sweet wine, which were sent by the Spanish on sailing ships to the New World, and to Europe . For months, the rum matured in these wooden barrels and took on the sweet aroma of wine. Soon this Mexican rum became so popular in Spain that King Felipe V issued a decree banning the importation of this rum. Today it is produced in Mexico using traditional methods and exported around the world. El Ron Prohibido Habanero 12 Years Old Solera Rum is blended using the Solera method. Bottled in an elegant, traditional bottle, it should be served neat, so that the sweet and bitter notes of honey and coffee can unfold.
