The Corralejo brand of tequila is colorful, unique and a little crazy – at least in terms of design. If you look closely and know a bit about Mexican history, you’ll quickly realize that Hacienda Corralejo, located in the state of Guanajuato, is somehow linked to priest and revolutionary Miguel Hidalgo. After all, his signature and an early variant of the Mexican flag adorn each bottle. Hidalgo is considered a national hero, having launched the first stage of the Mexican War of Independence in 1810. He was born in the Hacienda Corralejo and spent his childhood there. At that time, the production of alcohol from cultivated agaves was already booming. From 1996 onwards, the Hacienda devoted itself entirely to tequila production and created the Tequilera Corralejo company, the first of its kind in the Guanajuato region. Corralejo lies to the east of Jalisco, where most tequilas originate.
